Arts, Music and Drama are an essential part of effective and enjoyable learning and building confidence and self-esteem. Our music classes are interactive through story telling and movement while introducing to different genres of music and songs from around the world.
We have an annual Arts Festival that all the children take part in alongside a Nativity at Christmas and an Easter Bonnet Parade and Egg Hunt at Easter.
Not many schools come with their own Literary Festival, but here at Harriet House we believe in the power of books and hope to instil a love of literature from an early age. Our Festival started three years ago and in that time we have had authors from many different genres including Giles Andreae, Nanette Newman, Nick Cope and Kimberley Quinn at out children’s events and Max Hastings, Jocelyn Dimbleby, Santa Montefiore, Charles Cumming, the Countess of Carnavon and HRH Princess of Kent at our adult events in the evenings. We aim to inspire and entertain both children and adults through talks, activities and music during the Festival, bringing literature and language to life.
Studies show that Montessori-educated children are more independent, creative and socially adept and regularly out-perform traditionally educated children.
